Why this tool
DAW-friendly
WAV is the lingua franca of audio editing. Drop into Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, Audacity, or Reaper without codec fuss.
Private by default
Conversion runs in your browser via ffmpeg.wasm. The MP3 never leaves your device.
No re-compression loss
WAV is uncompressed PCM — the ceiling is whatever the MP3 preserved. Further edits won't introduce additional generational loss.

Frequently asked questions
- Will this restore audio quality lost in MP3 compression?
- No. The MP3 already discarded information; converting to WAV only preserves what's left. Think of this as a container change, not a restoration.
- Why is the WAV file so much bigger?
- WAV is uncompressed (PCM). A 4MB 4-minute MP3 at 128 kbps becomes roughly a 40MB WAV. That's normal.
- Does Clapr upload my MP3?
- No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser.
- What bit depth / sample rate is the output?
- 16-bit PCM at the MP3's native sample rate (usually 44.1 kHz). For 24-bit mastering workflows, use your DAW's higher-bit-depth conversion instead.
