Frequently asked questions
- What size does TikTok accept?
- In the mobile app, TikTok caps uploads at roughly 287 MB; the web upload allows up to 500 MB. We aim our "Small" preset at ~1 Mbps video so a 60-second clip lands around 8–12 MB — well under either limit.
- What resolution does TikTok prefer?
- TikTok uses 1080×1920 vertical as native. If your source is vertical, the Small preset keeps the long edge at 1920. For horizontal source, consider trimming or cropping in your editor before compressing.
- Will Clapr add a watermark?
- No watermark, never. The output is a clean MP4 you own and can post as-is.
- Why not just let TikTok recompress?
- TikTok re-encodes on upload anyway, but starting from a smaller, clean file prevents quality loss during the app's aggressive recompression — and avoids failed uploads on weak mobile networks.
- Do I need to sign up?
- No account, no email, no payment. Drop the file and go.
- What if my video is huge (3GB+)?
- Up to 4GB works in-browser on a decent laptop. On phones, keep sources under ~500 MB for reliability. Server processing for larger files is coming in the next release.
- Does it support TikTok's Duet / Stitch formats?
- Clapr just outputs a clean MP4. TikTok's Duet and Stitch are app-side features; any standard MP4 from Clapr will work as the source for those.
