Why this tool
Universal playback
MP3 is the single codec that plays absolutely everywhere — car stereos, cheap Bluetooth speakers, Windows Media Player, everything.
Private by default
Runs in your browser via ffmpeg.wasm. The M4A never leaves your device.
Voice memo ready
iPhone voice memos are saved as M4A. This tool converts them to MP3 for easy sharing via email or chat.

Frequently asked questions
- Will the conversion lose quality?
- Yes, slightly — both formats are lossy so you go through two lossy stages. At 192 kbps MP3 the difference is imperceptible for voice and almost all music.
- Can it convert DRM-protected M4P files?
- No. Clapr cannot bypass Apple's DRM. Only unprotected M4A files (voice memos, ripped CDs, Apple Music 'Matched' files without DRM) work.
- Does Clapr upload my file?
- No. Conversion is entirely in-browser.
- Can it handle Apple Music AAC files?
- Yes, as long as they are not DRM-locked. Apple Music subscription downloads are protected and won't convert.
