Terms of Service

The ground rules for using Clapr.

Last updated: April 21, 2026.

1. Agreement

By accessing or using Clapr (the "Service"), operated at clapr.app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What Clapr is

Clapr provides a collection of browser-native audio and video tools — video compression, format conversion, audio extraction, subtitle conversion, and related utilities. The core tools run inside your browser using WebAssembly; the Service does not upload or store your media on our servers.

A future Pro tier may offer server-assisted features (such as long-form transcription) under separate, clearly-labeled terms. Those features will be announced on the site before they become billable.

3. Free use and account

The current tools are offered free of charge, with no sign-up required. Signing in is optional and only needed for features that depend on an account (for example, saving your chat history in Clapr Chat).

If you create an account, you agree to:

  • provide accurate information,
  • keep your credentials secure,
  • notify us at hello@clapr.app if you suspect unauthorized use.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Service — see §6.

4. Your content

You retain all rights to the files you process with Clapr. Because the tools run in your browser, we do not receive those files and we claim no license to them.

You are solely responsible for making sure you have the right to process the content you feed into Clapr, and for complying with all laws applicable to that content (copyright, privacy, export controls, etc.).

5. Our content

The Clapr name, logo, website copy, and source-code unique to Clapr are the property of the Clapr team. The open-source components we depend on (FFmpeg, Next.js, etc.) remain under their respective licenses.

You are welcome to link to Clapr and to write about it; please do not pass off Clapr as your own product or scrape it for resale.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • upload or process content that is illegal, harassing, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights;
  • use Clapr to generate or distribute non-consensual intimate imagery, CSAM, or content that incites violence;
  • attempt to overload, disrupt, or reverse-engineer our infrastructure (e.g. abusing rate-limited endpoints, running automated scraping at scale);
  • bypass or tamper with any security, rate-limiting, or access-control feature.

We may, at our discretion, block IPs, revoke accounts, or take other reasonable measures to stop abuse.

7. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do our best to keep things working, but we cannot guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will perfectly convert every file. Always keep a backup of important originals.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Clapr team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed USD 50.

9. Changes to the Service and these Terms

Clapr is actively developed. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may update these Terms to reflect product changes or legal requirements. When a material change is made, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be bumped. Your continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we handle and what we don't. Please read it alongside these Terms.

11. Contact
