The wording on the free tier is unusually blunt for a help page: "The free storage quota for newly created cloud storage spaces has been updated to 0GB. This means that when creating a new cloud space, complimentary storage capacity will no longer be automatically included."
For the paid tiers, CapCut writes: "When you subscribe to CapCut Pro, you automatically receive 100 GB of cloud storage," and, for the tier above it, "you can upgrade from CapCut Pro to CapCut Teams, which provides 1,000 GB of space storage."
Why your CapCut Web space says 1KB
This is not a bug, and you are not looking at a rounding error. CapCut has a help article whose title is literally this question, and the answer is the 0GB policy above:
"The free quota for newly created cloud storage spaces has been adjusted to 0GB. As a result, new spaces no longer include complimentary storage capacity, which may appear in the system as a minimal placeholder value such as 1KB."
So 1KB is the display of a zero quota, not a quota of one kilobyte.
One wrinkle worth knowing if you go reading the help center yourself: a different page, updated the same day, describes the Pro upgrade as "A Pro subscription automatically expands your cloud space to 100 GB, giving you significantly more room than a free account" — phrasing that presupposes a free account starts with some room. All three pages carry the same update date. The two that deal specifically with the quota change are the ones that state a number, so 0GB is the figure to go by.
If you had files in a cloud space before the change, CapCut addresses that directly: "Please rest assured that any assets previously stored in your cloud space before this change remain safe. You can still view and download your existing files as usual. This adjustment does not delete or remove previously uploaded content."
What the 3,000 GB ceiling actually covers
CapCut states a single hard cap across everything you can buy: "CapCut currently supports a maximum total storage capacity of 3,000 GB. This limit includes your base storage from Pro or Teams, plus any additional expansion packages you purchase."
The expansion packages themselves come in two sizes, described as "100 GB expansion packages" and "1,000 GB expansion packages."
Here is the part to read carefully before you plan around that 3,000 GB number. A separate help page on why expansion can fail says: "If you have already subscribed to CapCut Pro/Teams and have purchased an additional 100GB/1000GB of storage space on top of that, we regret to inform you that we currently do not support expanding to larger storage spaces."
Those two statements sit in tension, and CapCut does not reconcile them anywhere we could find. The honest reading: 3,000 GB is the stated maximum total capacity, while the expansion page says that after one add-on purchase on top of Pro or Teams, further expansion is not currently supported. If your plan depends on stacking your way toward the ceiling, confirm it against the official documentation before paying.
What to do when you run out
There are two paths, and only one of them is free.
Path one: pay. CapCut is explicit that cloud space is a subscriber feature — "This storage benefit is exclusive to CapCut subscribers, meaning you must be on a paid plan to access and expand your cloud space." A new free space gives you 0GB, so there is no free allowance to manage.
Path two: stop treating the cloud as storage. Keep masters on your own disk, upload only what genuinely needs to sync, and shrink files before they go up.

- The desktop app cannot take your payment either. For subscriptions, CapCut says the Join button "opens your default browser and redirects you to the CapCut Web subscription page—desktop cannot process payments directly."
- On Teams, only one person can expand. "If you and your team have subscribed to CapCut Team Edition, only the team owner can expand storage space; team members do not have the option to increase storage space."
